taking holidays

booyaa and i have been talking, in a lazy and not-getting-around-to-it way, about taking some much needed holiday. we both need a break from work and some qt. a bit of sunshine wouldn't go amiss either. however, we're also trying to save up for another house move in about 6 months' time, so the original plan of taking a cheap 5 night holiday to malta/greece/canaries for sun and chilling is not really an option. i mean, you can still buy a reasonable holiday for under £200 each but that would come in handy for our house move, so we're rethinking our plans.

on top of that, boo has lots of holiday left over and needs to use some of it up. he's been rubbish at taking time off and has finally been pushed into action by my being unwell. he's planning to take some time off to look after me and be househusband and squeeze in some project time to work on his website and pursue hobbies in between.

to use up other holiday days, we're going to take one or two days off at a time and have a point to the day of some sort. i don't want us to just end up sleeping in, lazing about, watching telly, surfing etc. and not actually feeling like we've done anything with the day. so one of these theme days i suggested would involve getting up really early to go and take some photos of empty streets (one of booyaa's ongoing photography goals) and going to the cinema in the daytime and a museum later on. a fulll day of culture, no less!

and, would you believe it, lifehacker have linked to a blog with some more ideas to add to our arsenal. i particularly like his ides of march day, where you speak in shakespearean english all day. heh.
